Carey was 5'10 in height at the time she was a high-end model. The popularity of her was with American fashion designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was high. Her father was a prominent geologist and awarded the title of Scientist from 1979 by Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. The father of Carey was a geologist and traveled around the world as part of his profession. After she graduated from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started to model on the side. This caught the eye of an agent from Ford Model Agency New York. Following her move to France and briefly resided between Paris, Bordeaux and New York and then New York, she made the decision to go back home to New York and continue her training. In the next few months, Vogue, Glamour and others featured her on their covers. While she was modeling, she was a full time student obtaining a major of literature from New York University. Following a few years, she developed an interest in acting. She was a student at Neighborhood Playhouse New York. Her part was a minor one in Club Paradise with Robin Williams, in 1986. Her hobbies include skiing, white-water rafting, windsurfing, and rock climbing.
